Portions Guide
The tables below provide a rough estimate of the number of portions from each cake. They should be used as a guide only. What some would consider a good sized portion of cake others might consider either too large or too small.
The size of a fruit cake portion served at a wedding is generally 1” x2.5” but you may wish to double this for other occasions. Sponge Cake portions are generally served double the size of fruit cake. Please remember that square cake provide more portions per cake than round. If you are having more than one tier then add together the portions for each tier.
If you want a big wedding cake but are afraid of ending up with too much cake, you could substitute a tier or two for polystyrene dummies. Conversely, if you want a small wedding cake and the number of portions will not be enough, you could have iced 'kitchen cakes' hidden away to be served later.
